Kids to Farmers’ Market (KTFM) is an interactive event that teaches children about healthy foods and healthy eating.  Kids to Farmers’ Market program aims to teach children about nutrition and how to make healthy choices through hands-on learning. Join us and volunteer on Tuesdays in October at UMMC Plaza’s Farmers Market as local elementary children participate in this healthy eating programming. Volunteers will support the students in travelling around the learning stations.Station 1 for talking about nutritious fruits and vegetables. Station 2 is tasting a prepared dish by the chefs from UMMC. Station 3 purchasing fruits and vegetables from the farmer’s station in the park.Children receive “Farmer’s Bucks” to purchase fresh produceRegister now for the various stations and shifts! Community Walk takes place rain or shine. A walk will be canceled because of extreme heat and cold alerts. Cancellations and updates are promptly shared through CommunityPass and social media. Join us for a trash cleanup of campus to #KeepUMBBeautiful! Drop by our basecamp at the beginning of your shift to check in and get supplies. Swing back by basecamp at the end of your shift to drop off your full trash bags.

Early voting is a way for UMB students to civically serve without academic interruptions! Early voting in Maryland is from October 24th-October 31st. UMB Students are invited to an Early Voting Chat and Chew at UMB’s Community Engagement Center (CEC). Here we will take a minute to unpack the importance of voting and civic awareness over lunch! Don’t forget to bring your “I Voted” Sticker. Didn’t get a chance to vote before the Chat and Chew? No worries, UMB’s CEC sits directly adjacent to the nearest polling site, James McHenry Recreation Center. This event is open to current UMB students only.
