We are excited to release the Fall 2024 issue of the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) CATALYST magazine, a showcase of our collective achievements, innovations, and unwavering spirit that defines the University.

Students across the seven schools at UMB continue to learn about how UMB lives its mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good. Read about the School of Dentistry’s new program to enhance oral health care among elderly Marylanders. Add “Unseen Potential” to your list of podcasts; School of Pharmacy recent graduate Alena Abraham, PharmD, created the podcast dedicated to supporting the blind and visually impaired community. Mary Maldarelli, MD, a fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and 2019 School of Medicine graduate, is using her musical talents to create a therapeutic healing environment.

In this edition, you can read about the Center for Health and Homeland Security at the Francis King Carey School of Law and its work with artificial intelligence. Learn about the School of Medicine’s vaccine development to prevent sepsis in newborns. You also can read about Taofeek K. Owonikoko, MD, PhD, the new executive director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, and much, much more!
