A Bridge to Academic Excellence (ABAE) is a student organization at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy whose mission is to provide tutoring services for high school students in the Baltimore area. Student volunteers from the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Graduate Studies at University of Maryland, Baltimore serve as ABAE tutors for grades 9-12. Subjects include Algebra, English/Writing, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, and Calculus. Tutoring takes place on Saturdays on the UMB campus and is free of charge to participants.

–Volunteers are needed for the Cookie Tour on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 11:30 am – 2pm and 2:00pm – 4:30pm. Docents will assist guests with the homes to help them identify which areas are open for viewing. Some homeowners will have them stand at the door to welcome guests. Other homeowners might ask them to be on different levels of the house to make sure traffic moves smoothly. If volunteers are helping with check-in, they will be at Union Square Park, where our guests will present their Eventbrite ticket. They will provide purchasers with a map and a bag for the cookies.
