This summit will provide an incredible opportunity to connect, collaborate, and advocate for policies that enhance civic learning, including the proposed Maryland Seal of Civic Excellence Program, a new initiative recognizing students for exemplary civic engagement and knowledge. Our discussions will center around: Advocacy for the Maryland Seal of Civic Excellence Showcasing Maryland’s Leadership in Civic Education Closing Opportunity Gaps in Civic Learning Strengthening Partnerships for Civic Engagement and Service-Learning

The University of Maryland, Baltimore will be hosting the Annual Spring Service Fair at the Student Campus Center. The Spring Service Fair is a way to connect UMB students with Baltimore’s local non-profits and community-based organizations that share UMB’s Core Values. All agencies attending the fair will provide volunteering or service opportunities for UMB student to expand on knowledge from the classroom and into the heart of the communities we serve. This is a free event for UMB students, staff and faculty.

Community Meals are an opportunity for community members, UMB students, faculty and staff to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal together from a local restaurant while learning more about opportunities offered by the Office of Community Engagement and our local partners. Community meal occur quarterly and alternate between lunch and dinner. Registration is required to volunteer for community meals.  Volunteers are needed to support with set up, food serving, greeting, sign in, and cleaning up after the meal. The time commitment is two hours.  Please note that due to capacity this opportunity is limited to individual sign-ups. Student, staff, and community groups interested in volunteering should contact the OCE directly to learn more about group volunteering opportunities.
