- SOWEBO Story Swap(2:21) On Dec. 2, the culminating event of a social experiment came together at the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Community Engagement Center (CEC). In front of a small audience of West Baltimore neighbors, three Baltimore-based visual and performing artists shared their work as part of the Sowebo Story Swap. - The University of Maryland Baltimore's Polar Express Experience(1:26) On Dec. 19, children and families from West Baltimore were given tickets to ride the Polar Express Experience, an immersive holiday-themed train ride at the B&O Railroad Museum (@BORRM) that’s based on the best-selling novel and animated movie “The Polar Express.” The tickets were provided by a sponsorship from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).
- Holiday Toy Drive at University of Maryland Baltimore(1:18) West Baltimore residents shop for Christmas gifts at a deep discount at the 2022 Christmas Store in partnership with the University of Maryland, Baltimore Community Engagement Center and Foundry Church. Most gifts cost between $1-$5. For 2022, UMB and Foundry partnered with @WJZ13TV collecting inventory for the store, which totaled more than 1,000 toys. In addition to the toys for sale, the Maryland Book Bank set up shop in the store. The new era in data-driven biomedical innovation is being led by the @UMBaltimore and University of Maryland College Park collaboration with the @universityofmarylandmedica3585 and @montgomerycountymd.The transformative partnership will establish North Bethesda as a national epicenter of computationally enabled biomedical research, population health, and precision medicine. Big data combined with state-of-the-art analytical approaches have the potential to greatly improve medical outcomes and population health.The institute will leverage recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and computing to create a premier learning health care system that evaluates both de-identified and secure digitized medical health data to diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases in patients across Maryland.The institute is expected to open in leased space in early 2023, with final completion of laboratory and office space at the North Bethesda Metro location in 2028. Initial funding of $25 million is provided by MPower.
