What Do Actors Have to do with Medical Training and Education?

Actors are helping medical profession students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, posing as patients in simulated scenarios. These actors are called Standardized Patients, and several of these actors helped about 400 students from disciplines across the University work collaboratively at the 11th Annual Interprofessional Education (IPE) Day on March 29, 2023. The event is hosted by UMB’s Center for Interprofessional Education.Each year, the all-day event includes hands-on practice with the SPs on scenarios where students in nursing, pharmacy, medicine, public health, social work, law, and dentistry are required to work in a team-based model to provide a wraparound care approach for an intrpfoessional collaboration in health care.Learn more: https://www.umaryland.edu/news/archived-news/march-2023/treating-the-whole-patient-through-collaborative-care.php#StandardizedPatient #medicalcollege #medicalschool #acting
