Drilling Geothermal Wells for the new UM School of Social Work Building

Crews have started the process of installing geothermal wells for the new University of Maryland School of Social Work building. All 42 geo-exchange wells have been drilled, piped, and grouted. The wells required 5 miles of boring and 10 miles of piping. These wells will provide energy efficient heating and cooling for the building, which is designed to meet LEED Platinum certification and net-zero emissions. The building is expected to open in late summer 2027.Sign up for updates and learn more about the project: https://www.umaryland.edu/designandconstruction/capital-projects/projects/school-of-social-work-building-project/#SocialWork #Construction #HigherEd #Baltimore
