Members of the UMB community gathered in Leadership Hall on Feb. 6 as the University commemorated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and #BlackHistoryMonth. In her keynote address, Angela D. Alsobrooks, JD '96, county executive for Prince George's County, shared the many ways in which King's influence plays a vital role in her life and career and encouraged the audience to "redeem the dream" by keeping King's legacy of peace and justice alive. The event also featured the annual MLK Diversity Recognition Awards, chosen by UMB’s Diversity Advisory Council. Musical selections were provided by Vocally Charged, a performance choir from Green Street Academy, under the direction of Joseph N. Eldridge.
