In 2017, the #Emmy nominated #documentary "From West Baltimore" chronicled the lives of five students growing up in West #Baltimore as they started middle school, faced with countless obstacles and disadvantages. In 2018, the sequel followed the students' progress as they worked to overcome the odds, graduate middle school, and get accepted to selective Baltimore city high schools.
Catch up with these inspiring students – Shakeer, Princaya, Tyler, Courtney and Davioin – in "9th Grade: From West Baltimore," the third installment in the series that continues to follow the life journey of these five teens through their first year of high school.
All five students are participants of the #UMBCUREScholars Program, a groundbreaking pipeline program designed to support under-represented minority students by exposing them to #STEM careers beginning in 6th grade through high school and beyond.
Both the original documentary and the third film in the series will air on @marylandpublictv on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 and 7 p.m., respectively. #FromWestBalt
