Local Technology, Global Impact: In 2010, Maureen Kane, PhD and associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences @umsop, had a vision to use advanced measurement tools to fill in the gaps of biological knowledge, not only to enable her own research, but also to accelerate the scientific discovery of collaborators and colleagues across other schools at #UMBaltimore and around the globe.Dr. Kane led the effort to create the Mass Spectrometry Center to empower biological discovery and drug development, and now serves as its executive director. Under Dr. Kane's leadership, the Mass Spectrometry Center has contributed to research grants that have brought well over $100 million in research funding to UMB.
