What if we could improve a baby’s health by being nurturing parents?At the University of Maryland, Baltimore, researchers are launching innovative programs to support maternal and infant health — helping Maryland’s babies get the strongest start possible.Lisa Berlin, PhD, MS, the Alison L. Richman Professor of Children and Families at the University of Maryland School of Social Work and expert in early child-caregiver attachment, is studying how a brief, home-based parenting program can make a measurable difference in children’s health and development.
